Zirconium Crowns
Tooth loss can occur due to misalignment, decay, trauma, and other reasons. In such cases, zirconium crowns offer an aesthetic and functional solution. This treatment is planned and applied after a dental examination.
What Are Dental Crowns?
A crown is a covering placed over a tooth, designed to look like a natural tooth. It can perfect your smile. There are three main types of crowns: Porcelain Crowns, E-Max Crowns, and Zirconium Crowns.
Who Needs Dental Crowns?
If you have a large cavity that cannot be filled, have undergone root canal treatment with an amalgam filling, or want to perfect your smile by covering a discolored or poorly shaped tooth, you may need a dental crown. Additionally, crowns are placed over implants if you have them.
Porcelain Crowns
Porcelain crowns are metal-supported, making them stronger than regular porcelain. They are durable and often used for back teeth due to their ability to withstand chewing pressure. However, their low light transmittance makes them less ideal for front teeth. Zirconium and E-Max crowns, designed to overcome these disadvantages, offer better durability and light transmittance.
Zirconium Crowns
Zirconium crowns are made from zirconium dioxide, a white powdered metal oxide combined with ceramic. They are incredibly strong and resistant to cracking. The treatment process begins with modeling and scanning after the decision is made. Digital measurements and 3D scans create accurate dimensions, followed by CAD/CAM system design and color selection.
E-Max Crowns
E-Max crowns are made from lithium disilicate ceramic, providing high translucency and a natural tooth-like appearance. While E-Max crowns are durable, zirconium crowns are slightly more robust. Both types are produced using the CAD/CAM system.
Treatment Process
Dental crown treatment is considered one of the fastest and easiest aesthetic procedures. Depending on the number and structure of the teeth, the treatment can be completed within 5-7 days.
Differences Between Zirconium and Porcelain Crowns
Porcelain crowns are thin and fragile, often supported with metal to prevent breakage. Zirconium crowns, being semi-metal, combine durability and aesthetics. Zirconium’s better light transmittance allows for a more natural tooth color and longer-lasting results.
Dental Crown Treatment Process
Planning: Contact us via live chat, WhatsApp, form, or email. Sending an X-ray image is crucial for determining your treatment plan and cost. Our international patient department will coordinate with you to schedule the treatment date.
First Visit: On the day of your appointment, our international patient coordinator will pick you up from your hotel. At the clinic, your teeth will be examined and measured, and the measurements will be sent to the lab for CAD/CAM-designed crowns. Your teeth will be prepared for the crowns, and you will be taken back to your hotel.
Trial Visits: Once the crowns are made, you will return to the clinic to try them on. During this visit, the fit and appearance of the temporary crowns will be checked. You can discuss the shape and color of the crowns with your doctor to match your natural teeth. After the trial, final adjustments will be made in the lab.
Crowning: On the final visit, the crowns will be permanently placed on your teeth. If you have time, we recommend staying in Turkey for an additional one or two days for a final check and adjustment of your zirconium crowns.
